Special groups within the community can cast a secret, independent vote during the early voting period of this year’s Victorian State election through the VEC’s Electronically Assisted Voting (EAV) system. Electors eligible to use the system include electors who:
- are blind or have low vision;
- have English as a second language;
- have language or literacy difficulties (such as dyslexia); and
- have a fine motor skill impairment.
Electronically Assisted Voting (EAV) was trialled successfully in 2006 by the VEC and is now being expanded to be available at every early voting centre in Victoria for the 2010 State election.
